The alarm goes off early today. We’ll be driving the last part of our 3-day motorbike tour from Dalat to Nha Thrang. It is also the longest drive.
The last 2 days we drove a lot off road, no other tourists. My guide knows this area very well. Today we’ll be driving the normal road mostly, because of the distance we take. After a while, we stop for a real Vietnamese snack: corn. Poor locals and a lot of farmers eat cooked corn alongside the road as a quick and cheap snack. I pay €0,10 for 2 pieces, which is more than I should and the man is happy as a child. We eat it fast and set off to our next stop.
While sitting on the back of the motorbike I can’t imagine it being the last day. I’m enjoying the views and all our stops on the way. Vietnam is beautiful and I’m going to see much more.
We arrive at a cashew plantation, and I buy some to eat on my way. They are delicious. We drive further and stop at some more points to see a rubber plantation, sugar cane – this is too sweet! And we drive through the mountains which are earlier warfare.
When we arrive close to Nha Thrang I get to see the fishing villages, shrimp farms and a lot of good views of the sea.
I feel sad for arriving in Nha Thrang. It means I’ll have to say goodbye to my guide who has shown me the best places I wouldn’t have found myself. With tears in my eyes, I leave a message in his diary so his new customers can read my experiences. And I write a little note to him in English, so he understands.
Thanks to my guide I made it in time to Nha Thrang to catch the night bus to Hoi An, Let’s see who I’ll meet there.
